Another top show this week from James and gang. Guest chefs Ben Tish and Daniel Gamiche (no swearing this time : ) ) Susy Atkins was on hand to track down the wines to match their delicious dishes. Special guest George lamb faced food heaven: Fish in general but Sea bass in particular or food hell: Game – in this case Pigeon.
Ben Tish served up Pan-fried hake on the bone with Arbequina olive oil mash, surf clams, chorio and flat parsley.
With the Spanish influence of the chorizo in the dish Susie was tempted by a Manzanilla sherry at first but with the thought that it may be a little overpowering, settled for : Torres Vina Sol 2011 – pale and dry with aromas of citrus and apples it’s a simple, light choice which compliments all of the elements in Ben’s dish.
This week Daniel prepared Confit de canard aux lentils . Susie pointed first to an Australian Riesling – The Petaluma 2008, but opted instead for a French red wine to fit the dish overall with the earthy qualities of the puy lentils. She chose: a 2009 Cotes du Rhone Villages.
More great great dishes that you can buy wine online to match with. See you next week !
Enjoy !
