Saturday Kitchen 7/1/12
This week James was joined by guest chefs Jun Tanaka and Tom Kerridge.. Wines this time were chosen by Susie Barrie.
Tom prepared an amazing looking blow torched mackerel with blini, warm pickled beetroot and chive crème fraiche.
Susie’s first choice would have been Vodka to match this Russian inspired dish but as we are limited to wines here she settled on: Peter Lehmann Reisling 2010 from Majestic £7.99 feeling that this has enough both crispness and fruit to work well with the beetroot component in the dish.
Jun prepared: Confit pork neck with celeriac coleslaw. With something bright and refreshing required Susie picked an Italian Trebbiano white: Villa Flora Lugana 2010 as the perfect accompaniment for this dish.
Special guest star Robert Glenister was lucky enough to get his heaven dish this time which was the classic Chicken Chausseur – Susie’s match for it was : Beaujolais Latini 2010 from Marks and Spencer .
