Another great show this weekend filled with top recipes and with hand picked wines to match. Top Alexis Gauthier and Paul Rankin did the honours at the hobs while wine expert Susie Barrie braved the cold to find the ideal wines to match the dishes. Blake Harrison from the brilliant Inbetweeners was the special guest facing his food heaven: Steak or food hell: Cauliflower.
Paul was up first and in the always amazing 6 or 7 minutes given (although not so good with the old omlette challenge : - even he does hold the record) he prepared –Spiced soy roast chicken
To compliment this fantastic looking plate Susie, braving the breeze in Eastbourne thought that the dish could stand a white red or even rose wine. She decided however that the best choice would be a Viognier and selected the Cono Sur Viognier 2010
Cooking live next Alexis prepared Soft chicken wings stuffed with herbs, potato gnocchi, broad beans and thyme (good gnocchi recipe) Susie thought a sancerre or even a refreshing videcco would work with this summery dish but in the end went Italian with the Quadro Sei Gavi from Piemonte.
(This is a similar Italian Gavi from our Gavi pages. Other options here
Blake got lucky with heaven and hell and got enough votes for his heaven dish: Steak with peppercorn sauce. Wine to match: Graham Beck Antony's yard 2009 from Majestic.
We hope you can try some of these at home and of course get the wines here at WinedayUk !
