If you've opened a bottle of wine and not finished it (aparently this does happen !) you'll want to be able to keep in fresh for a day or two. The perfect solution is right here on our wine bottle stoppers pages. Oxidisation begins as soon as a bottle of wine is opened and the wine is exposed to air. The wine begins to detiorate in flavour and it's colour takes on a brownish tinge in time. This is caused by our friends the tannins in the wine reacting with oxygen to produce ethanal. It can happen as soon as a couple of hours after the initial opening of the bottle and is a particular problem for white wines and older reds.
You might think that any old thing will do to cover the mouth of the bottle but for a small investment you can get yourself an efficient, stylish bottle stopper to do the job properly for years to come. A properly resealed bottle of wine will keep for 2-3 days before the wine begins to oxidise and become unpaletable so it's well worth doing the job properly so if you've opened a bottle and just used a glass or two the remainder won't go to waste.
